How do sims get married

She goes into Build Mode and makes the necessary arrangements. It's a little odd to be making a cake for one's own wedding, but the cake is part of a minor wedding goal, so she prepares it now. Next, she saves again, then activates the social planning again. She decides not to hire a musician since she doesn't have an instrument, but she does hire a mixologist and a caterer. When you hire any of those three positions, note that you can hire someone you already know, or hire an unnamed NPC.

You can also have multiple ones if absolutely necessary, though most Generation 1 Sims won't know enough guests to make that worth it. When choosing who to hire, you'll see a list of all the people your Sim knows who can qualify for that position. As you see here, the only person Christine knows who qualifies for the mixologist position is Daniel Mosley. If Christine hires an unnamed mixologist, they're guaranteed to be skilled; Daniel may have just started and could mess everything up.

However, he's free, and Christine is running out of cash, so she hires Daniel anyway. This may not be a risk you're willing to take with your own Sims, especially if you're using Generation 2 or later Sims who probably have enough money to splurge on a skilled townie.

Christine finishes her plans and chooses her home lot as the site for the wedding. As with Christine and Freddie's second date , the wedding starts immediately as everyone teleports to the house. Christine changes into a special wedding dress automatically. Any hired help goes to their stations at once: Daniel starts mixing booze, the caterer heads for the kitchen, and if a musician had been hired, they would have gone straight for an instrument.

Christine has an obvious role to play too, but unlike dates, it's usually best to get the main goal out of the way first. Because wedding starts in the afternoon, the guests are already reasonably taken care of with high need bars. It's best to do the wedding now, then worry about feeding everyone. A wedding arch is not necessary, but it makes for a nice picturesque addition. Here, she then waits : once that command is given, everyone on the lot automatically starts heading to watch.

No surprises here! This can take some time and interaction spamming, much like a regular game of The Sims. You can't just get someone to agree to marrying your sim by spamming it with friendly interactions, though.

Make sure to build up the relationship with your sim's future spouse using romantic interactions. At a level 10 relationship, your sim and its romantic interest will hit Soulmates. From there you two are ready to get hitched. It's best to work on this while you're wooing your sim of choice so that you don't have to wait when you're finally ready.

You need three sims sitting at level 2 or more friendship to get married. Eventually, they can opt to marry. Though if a couple are already married when their parents marry each other, they can perform all romantic interactions.

Also note that in The Sims 3 , unlike in The Sims 2 , there's no distinction between same and opposite-sex marriages.

The amount of Lifetime Happiness is the same for both kinds of couples when they go steady, get engaged, and finally get married. Further, in the family tree of same-sex couples it shows their spouse as either their husband or wife, the same as it does for opposite-sex couples.

In The Sims 4 , marriage functions similarly to The Sims 3. Noncommittal Sims are more likely to reject a proposal than other Sims, even if the couple in question has a high relationship. After Sims are engaged, they can either elope or plan a wedding. Family members' surnames are not changed after a wedding, but the player is free to change names by editing Sims in Create a Sim.

If a newly wed couple doesn't already live in the same household, the household management UI will appear and prompt the player to move Sims and funds between households as they see fit.

Otherwise, there will simply be a notification letting the player know they can move Sims between households. There is no known way to get a spouse back into their former role, even if they are divorced.

There is also no distinction made between opposite-sex and same-sex marriage. They provide the same amount of satisfaction points, have the same related moodlets, and fulfill the same whims. In The Sims Medieval , the interactions leading up to marriage are nearly identical to The Sims 3 , but rather with medieval-sounding names.

Sims can perform romantic interactions until they have the option to Ask to Court, which is similar to Going Steady. After some more relationship-building, sims can Ask for Hand in Marriage, which, if successful, will make the two sims involved engaged.

From here, sims have three options. They can choose to Get Married Here, which will cause an angel to come down from Heaven and marry the two sims where they stand, or, if the sim in control belongs to either the Jacoban or Peteran faith, the two sims can marry inside their corresponding church.

The marriage will not change any sim's last name or prompt an unplayable sim to move in—it will only declare the two sims married. In The Sims FreePlay , two sims must perform romantic interactions until they reach Partner relationship level in order to propose marriage. Sims have a choice of five rings to propose with, with each more expensive ring giving a better chance that the recipient sim will say yes. If the recipient sim says yes to the proposal, the sims will become engaged. The sims then must fill their relationship bar one more time for the marriage interaction to become available.

The sim who did not begin the marriage interaction will then move into the other sim's home, leaving their former home vacant. In The Sims 3 , Sims can marry every life state available. However, some of the life states will not be available for marriage unless the player takes some necessary steps. In The Sims 4 , a Sim of any life state can be married with no workarounds required, provided they are young adults or older.

This is basically like a normal party , except that the Sims are expected to get married. In The Sims 4 , a wedding can be held by selecting "Plan a Social Event" on a Sim's phone and then selecting the "Wedding" option, by clicking on a wedding arch and planning a wedding from there, or by scheduling an event in a household's calendar [ TS4S ].

A household cannot plan a wedding party unless someone in it is engaged. There is a limited number of Sims who can be invited to a wedding party. In The Sims 2 , players don't need to invite the bride or the groom to the party if they don't live together, because they will automatically come by themselves.

Invited Sims will arrive in Formal wear. When the marriage takes place, both Sims switch into wedding attire formal wear and head beneath the wedding arch.

In The Sims 4 , Sims can invite a minimum of two guests excluding the Sims who are getting married up to a maximum of fifteen guests. They can also optionally hire a caterer , a musician and a mixologist. Musicians will entertain the guests, mixologists will serve them drinks, and caterers will prepare food for them and bake a wedding cake.

Sims with feminine clothing preference are automatically changed into wedding dresses and Sims with masculine clothing preference are changed into tuxedos, but the player is free to change them into other outfits before the ceremony starts. Here are all the steps you need to take in securing that marriage between your two chosen Sims. As the story goes with any marriage, it always starts with the future couple putting in the time and effort to get to know each other.

In the Sims this takes the form of your Sim building up a relationship with your chosen Sim by chatting, getting to know each other, telling stories and jokes and other methods to woo the Sim.

As your relationship builds and your relationship bar begins to climb, you can then move onto flirting methods which will trigger the romance options. Make sure you use all the romantic tricks given to you to woo the sim into becoming your significant other and then sealing it with the question about becoming a couple.

After this happens it's up to you where you take it, you could either ask your Sim partner to move in with you first or pop the question straight away. If you find the whole process of reaching the engagement stage too time-consuming and want to jump to marriage straight away, you can use a cheat available to speed the process up.
